Due for release in December 2024, this field guide expands on the previous Field Guide to the Orchids of the Southern Tablelands of NSW including the ACT (2020).
Features updated information, new and improved introductory chapters on orchid biology, threats and conservation, a revised layout, the addition of distribution maps for each species and comparison pages for difficult to identify species, and hundreds of new and improved photos.
The book covers all 202 species and 30 genera of orchids found in the region. Each species is covered in detail, with one page per species and 2-5 photos showing different parts of the plant. Each of the genera are introduced in detail, including information on taxonomy, ecology, pollination and mycorrhizal fungi.
The book now covers the entirety of the Canberra Nature Map region, from Young to the Victorian border and from Nerriga to Cootamundra, making it an ideal companion for orchid enthusiasts, field naturalists and citizen scientists alike.
